T.I. performs in Denver, remains sexy while doing so [06 Jul 2008|03:20pm]

ohnotheydidnt

[swagoutthawazoo]

T.I.’s name has been on the tip of a lot of hip-hop tongues lately. The latest 50 Cent release, “Get Money,” implies that T.I.’s lack of jail time for his 2007 illegal gun possession charge was a little light considering the offense. Curtis (50) raps that all signs point to Clifford’s (T.I.) buy-out of his own jail time. And this beef, among other rumors of T.I.’s life and whereabouts, was the focal point of Thursday’s show at the Fillmore Auditorium.

DJ Drama and posse in tow, T.I. arrived on stage to a greatly undersold venue but a gracious crowd awaiting his appearance. Jumping quickly through less-than-a-minute-long renditions of “Top Laid Back,” “Rubberband Man,” and the ATL soundtrack hit “Ride Wit Me,” T.I.’s interest was in preaching the truth about his life as of late, rather than actually spitting any good rhymes.

In between snippets, T.I. addressed rumors that he was sentenced to jail for 30 years (again, a reference to the gun possession incident at the BET awards), that he had committed suicide and that he had been snitchin’ (another rumor related to his miniscule one-year sentence.) While these were all viable topics, I was disappointed by how much show time was spent listening to him talk.

T.I. mimed his way through “Da Dopeman” and “You Don’t Know Me” with his signature smirk, leaning back with his driving arm in the air, cruising the stage and winking at his adoring crowd. Acknowledging the obvious female admiration, T.I. stated that his shirt would be removed for the duration of the show. He followed through with the shirt removal promise, and by then asked the female audience, “If your bra and panties are the same color, make some noise!” Apparently, there were many matching sets of undergarments in the house for the evening.

Now shirtless and gleaming, T.I. laid out half-full versions of “Let’s Get Away,” the Crystal Waters’-sampled “Why You Wanna,” and dropped some verses over Usher’s latest Top 20 jam, “Love in This Club,” beckoning the women in the audience with his shameless smile and irresistibly thuggish manner. At this point in the show, I noticed I was standing in the spontaneously designated grinding section of the crowd, as couples freaking to the beats suddenly surrounded me. Thankfully, the dry-hump vibe was broken up by T.I.’s explosive and best performance of the night, the Jay-Z duet “Bring Em’ Out.”

Even though he continued to litter the show with exhausting banter about eminent beef, T.I. managed to hold it down, highlighted by full performances of “No Matter What” and “Big Things Poppin’.”

He played a few seconds of a UGK track and showed love to the recently deceased Pimp C, also playing parts of the Tupac’s “All Eyez on Me” and the B.I.G. classic “Juicy.” I found it odd that he didn’t rap on any of the tracks, instead just having Drama play them while he paced the stage.

The finale was the biggest disappointment, with T.I. playing a new track off of his upcoming release, “Paper Trail,” tossing his arms up and down and lip-synching, instead of actually performing song. Needless to say, I was content just to stare at T.I. for the hour-long performance. Who needs a live rap show when you’ve got a hot shirtless man whose pants are already halfway off standing in front of you instead?

The writer of this doesn't have her facts straight, but the last 2 lines make up for the crappy article.

And I don't think this song needed a remix.

I had the opportunity to interview 5 of the season 7 American Idol contestants in San Diego (including Michael Johnsss but sadly not David Cook) on July 2 and I figured I'd bring Archie's over here for all you sexy people.

I was going to make this a bigger post but then I felt kind of uncomfortable and thought that was pretentious. And sadly, I couldn't get a fan sign because I couldn't take pictures of him during the interview and I didn't meet him before the show.

This is already tl;dr but the interview is pretty short. He talks about performing in San Diego (his audition city), Jason Mraz, and he passes on a message to his fans. If you're interested, here's Chikezie's and Carly Smithson's. To anyone wondering how I made this happen, I'm a journalism major and I write for my college's newspaper. Please do not badger their people for press passes unless you take it seriously.

In reality tv news, Bachelor Andrew Firestone marries [06 Jul 2008|02:35pm]

ohnotheydidnt

[sasa418]

It's official: Bachelor Andrew Firestone wed Ivana Bozilovic at St. Mark's in the Valley Episcopal Church in Los Olivos, California, Saturday afternoon.

“Standing at the front of the church and watching Ivana walk down the aisle, I just kept thinking I must be the luckiest man alive to spend the rest of my life with this woman," Firestone, 32, tells Usmagazine.com exclusively.

"We're so happy right now we can hardly stand it!" the couple tell Us. "It is so special to be able to share this momentous day with our family and friends.

"It couldn't have been more perfect," the couple added.

After kissing the bride, Firestone's cousin and niece led the processional in a rendition of "Livin' on a Prayer" by Jon Bon Jovi.

"it was a great moment," a guest tells Us.

"She makes me a better person," Firestone told Us in June of his wife, a model. "Never before have I been so gushy."

Firestone, the tire heir who co-owns the Curtis Winery, proposed to Bozilovic in 2007 alone on the beach before a party he'd planned for her 30th birthday. He'd even helped design a 2.5-carat diamond ring for the occasion.

"Just being able to be there with all our friends and family," he says, "was the most special moment of my whole life."

Firestone was so certain of relationship success with Bozilovic that he reserved the wedding venue before he'd even popped the question to his girlfriend of two years!

"I was hoping she'd say yes," he told Us. "I was banking on it!"

And even though he's found love again, Firestone admits he was "crushed" after his engagement to Jen Schefft unraveled in 2003.

"I was going above and beyond to make it work," he told Us.

"Everybody assumed it was my fault – that wasn't the case at all.

"Sometimes you get hurt before you actually make it right," he added.

Madonna releases an ~exclusive~ statement [06 Jul 2008|02:33pm]

[sasa418]

Madonna has released an exclusive statement to PEOPLE, denying that she is divorcing Guy Ritchie or having an affair with Yankee star Alex Rodriguez.

"My husband and I are not planning on getting a divorce. I know Alex Rodriguez through Guy Oseary, who manages both of us. I brought my kids to a Yankee game. I am not romantically involved in any way with Alex Rodriguez. I have nothing to do with the state of his marriage or what spiritual path he may choose to study.”

Alex Rodriguez’s wife Cynthia “blamed” the rumored affair for the demise of her marriage to the slugger, sources say.

Amid growing buzz of divorce, the singer’s rep had earlier issued a denial that the singer and her husband of over seven years, Guy Ritchie, were splitting.

The singer, who is no stranger to rumors, also says: “I have learned over the years not to take accusations and the many false reports about me very seriously. I also appreciate how fiction and fact seem to be perceived as one and the same by people who read both newspapers and the internet."

Party like a rockstar.. Nicole Richie Tossed from the Hard Rock [06 Jul 2008|02:16pm]

Looks like baby Harlow hasn't settled Nicole Richie's wild side yet.

We're told Nicole was involved in an altercation around 1 AM this morning with a female while in line at the valet outside the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas. Sources say Richie was so rowdy she had to be escorted off the property by security!

The photo was taken early last night at Wasted Space inside the Hard Rock, where we're told Nicole was partying with Carey Hart and the boys from Good Charlotte.

Hard Rock was mum on the issue, reps for Nicole have yet to get back to us.

Pete Wentz: I Talk to the Baby All the Time [06 Jul 2008|02:05pm]

ohnotheydidnt

[sasa418]

These days when he isn't rocking out with Fall Out Boy, Pete Wentz can often be found speaking to his unborn child or reading books about fatherhood.

"I talk to it all the time," he told PEOPLE Saturday at the Ultimate Fighting Championship 86 afterparty in Las Vegas. "The Expectant Father tells you that the woman, when she speaks, the baby hears her all the time. And the father's voice isn't familiar unless you talk to it, so I talk to it all the time."

Armin Brott's parenthood tome is just one of the books the bassist is reading to prepare himself for his and Ashlee Simpson-Wentz's first child together.

"It tells you your partner's moods month-by-month and week-by-week," says Wentz, who is also getting advice from both his father and Joe Simpson. "It tells you why you're feeling the way you are, how you can feel more involved in the pregnancy."

And while Ashlee often has cravings for ice cream, pickles and green olives, everything is "going well," says Wentz, who performed a two-hour DJ set at the House of Blues following the UFC match.

In fact, he is already hinting at more children in the future: "This is the first one so we'll have to base the next one on how we do on the first one."

I would have never guessed that Pete Wentz would be talking about reading "The Expectant Father"

New Harry Potter film is all 'sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll' [06 Jul 2008|06:44pm]

Harry Potter movie has 'sexual energy', says Radcliffe

Daniel Radcliffe has claimed that Harry Potter And The Half Blood Prince has "sexual energy" and moments which are comparable to cult film Trainspotting.

The director of the sixth film in the franchise, David Yates, told Empire magazine that the movie would be the "sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll" instalment.

However, Radcliffe joked about the comments in a special preview of the movie, also in Empire magazine.

"Sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll? Thanks, David, that's a comment I'll have to fend off for months," Radcliffe said.

"There's obviously no sex in the book, it's all subtext, but there is a fair amount of sexual energy and there are some drug parallels.

"We have a couple of what David calls our 'Trainspotting moments'.

He went on to say that the new film strikes a good balance between the gradually-darkening tone of the novels and the scope for comedy as Harry grows older.

A signed set of first edition Harry Potter books recently sold at auction for £17,800.

Gwen Stefani ~*Update*~ Post

With their second child due any day now, Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale are making sure their son Kingston, 2, isn't feeling left out.

The pair have been doting on the tot in recent weeks, taking him for trips to the London Zoo and on a shopping spree to Hamleys.

Before leaving L.A. for London on June 23, Gwen, 38, her mom, dad and Kingston celebrated a farewell dinner at Buddha’s Belly restaurant on June 19.

“Gwen was absolutely glowing,” fellow diner Hilary Ratner tells OK!. “Gwen and her family were in the back, relaxing and enjoying themselves. And little Kingston was adorable! He has a lot of energy! His grandpa was playing peek-a-boo with him and walking him around the restaurant. Everyone was charmed.”

The No Doubt frontwoman is due this summer. She and Gavin have not found out the sex of the baby.

Kanye does NOT have a painting of himself in his home [06 Jul 2008|12:46pm]

HARPER'S BAZAAR..... I DON'T HAVE A PAINTING OF MYSELF AS AN ANGEL
07.06.2008

To put it short as Kanyely possible(don't mean to speak in third person).... Harper's Bazaar came to my home, took pics, asked a lot of questions and then assumed the painting in my dining room was of me as an angel. This isn't true and it bothered me greatly because people think I'm so so so cocky that I would have something like that. I'm sure it was an inside joke to everyone from the magazine in my home that day. People would come over my house after that and say, " I heard about this pic of you as an angel!" I would have appreciated if Harper's Bazaar would have put in some type of blurb to clear it up. I wanted people to see my home because I spent 2 years gutting it and was proud. I'm just a regular guy with cool stuff in his crib but instead I was made out to be Ben Stiller's character in the movie 'Dodgeball' with the huge pic of him wrestling a bull in his office. Why didn't they write that my house had no pics of me, no plaques or awards, just art.

I guess it's bittersweet, you spend half your life trying to become larger than life and the other half trying to just live a real life again.

You cry now: Meat Loaf says he's an actor first [06 Jul 2008|12:29pm]

ohnotheydidnt

[la_petite_singe]
[ mood | dorky ]
[ music | HP/CoS ]

Meat Loaf is focusing his sights on his Hollywood career - because he considers himself an actor first, musician second.

The Bat Out of Hell rocker - real name Marvin Lee Aday - has enjoyed huge success as a singer, but at 60, he wants to be remembered more for his skills on screen than anything else.

When asked whether he's more of a musician or an actor, he tells Britain's Esquire magazine, "I'm an actor. I've done 43 films and I've got offers for a couple more on the table.

"I don't always choose them for the size of the role - there is an old actor saying and it is that there are never small roles, only small actors.

And Meat Loaf - who has starred in movies including Fight Club and The Pick of Destiny - singles out his best-ever performance as that in the lesser known 2001 drama Focus, alongside William H. Macy and Laura Dern.

He adds, "Forget making records, or selling records. That's it, right there, the best thing I've ever done - (Focus), a little film that we shot in Toronto (Canada) and no one knows about it."

Too wonderfully random not to post. I basically just did it so we could quote Spice World (that's what the photo's from) and Fight Club like crazy.
